Used Eyeglasses

The Cabot Lions Club participates in the "Recycle for Sight" Program.  Since 1996, more than 37 million eyeglasses have been collected from clubs around the world.  At seven different locations within the United States, the eyeglasses are sorted by volunteers, separating sunglasses, broken frames, and single lenses from intact pairs.  Recycled glasses are cleaned, repaired, classified by prescription and packaged for international missions sponsored by Gift of Sight Foundation and Lions Club.  These glasses cannot be used in the United States.  Our government requires only new glasses be dispensed within the USA.  However, since 1991, Gift of Sight Foundation and Lions Clubs have sponsored over 100 missions to 28 developing countries, delivering exams and recycled glasses to more than one million people.  Your old eyeglasses do make a difference.
